Spring has arrived, and with it, a fresh look at how global e-commerce performed in April. The latest data shows continued resilience in the market, with worldwide revenues reaching US$405.6 billion, marking an 8.5% increase year-on-year. While month-on-month growth was modest, the overall trajectory remains clearly positive.

Country Perspectives

A notable highlight in April is Germany’s standout performance. With 9.3% growth compared to April 2025, it outpaced other major markets to take the lead. Close behind were:

  • United States: +7.9%

  • Greater China: +7.7%

  • France: +7.3%

Category Insights

At the category level, Care Products once again emerged as the top performer, achieving +10.1% year-on-year growth. Looking at the yearly comparisons, Fashion and DIY also recorded solid gains of +8.3%.

E-Commerce Infrastructure

The competitive landscape among shop software providers remains largely unchanged. A few key players dominate the market:

  • Shopify leads by a wide margin, powering 23.4% of online stores

  • Magento follows with 8.5%

  • WooCommerce accounts for 4.9%

Looking Ahead

As we move into the summer season, the global e-commerce market shows no signs of slowing down. While month-on-month revenues leveled out, the annual perspective looks solid for e-commerce growth.
