September 2026

Autumn is here, and online shoppers are back at their screens. Global e-commerce revenue picked up in September 2026, both against August and against the same month last year.

This recap covers the headline revenue figure, the major markets, the leading categories and the shipping providers with the widest store adoption.

Revenue Reaches US$434.6 Billion in September

September revenue picked up month-on-month. It rose from US$428.5 billion in August to US$434.6 billion, a gain of roughly 1.4%.

Year-on-year, revenue grew 6.8%. The end of summer brings shoppers back into routine, and September carries early demand from back-to-school and autumn wardrobe purchases.

The UK Leads Year-on-Year Growth Among Major Markets

This time, the UK led year-on-year growth at +8.6%. The US followed closely at +8.0%. Greater China and Germany sit further behind.

South Korea posted the slowest pace among the major markets, at just +3.2% from September 2025 to September 2026. Its online share is already among the highest in the world, which leaves less room to grow into.

Care Products, Furniture and DIY Lead the Categories

Care Products led the categories this month. Furniture & Homeware and DIY followed, both tied to the home.

The season explains part of the picture. As days get shorter, attention moves indoors, toward the home and the projects that come with it.

UPS Has the Widest Store Adoption Among Shipping Providers

UPS reached the widest store adoption among shipping providers this month. FedEx and USPS followed close behind. All three are US carriers. Just 4.2 percentage points separate them, so no single provider dominates.

Wrap-Up: Steady Growth Heading Into Peak Season

September delivered steady growth on both comparisons. The UK and the US set the pace, while South Korea's mature market moved slowest. Home-related categories gained as the season turned.

The months ahead bring Singles' Day, Black Friday and the holiday rush. September's numbers set a solid baseline going into the busiest stretch of the e-commerce year.
